The residency will include:
- $1,000 budget (Gst excluded) to support the creation of new work.
- Use of the ONEONESIX rehearsal space for 5 – 7 days (does not have to be consecutive)
- Mentorship support from ONEONESIX and Whangārei Fringe team
- External Mentorship budget to use with an appropriate industry mentor
- Technical support if required from the venue
- Sharing, Debrief and Planning support for the next stage of the project (post residency)
- Access to community of artists and audience for an in-house sharing of work if needed.
IMPORTANT DATES:
Applications open: 20th May
Applications close: 24th June
If you are an artist or group outside the Whangārei region we can organise a billet for you or you can use some of the budget to pay for accommodation and travel.
Projects could include a new script, dance work, workshop based kaupapa, research for a devised work, live music, writing or multidisciplinary projects.
Priority will be given to projects that could grow into performance events at either ONEONESIX or the Whangārei Fringe Festival.
Applicants of any age or level of experience will be considered. Project ideas should be well-developed in scope and demonstrate meaningful impact within the Te Tai Tokerau community. These criteria will guide the panel’s decision-making.
At the end of the residency artists will share what they have developed with a selected group to support the next stages of the work.
Thank you to the Pacific Arts Strategy Team at Creative New Zealand and the Aotearoa Fringe Festival’s FATU Funding for making this possible.
