In the month of December, Nikau Te Huki of Casual Healing is touring Te Ika a Maui, the mighty North Island of Aotearoa, in a sequence of intimate house concerts showcasing his up and coming album ‘Driftwood’ and more.
Nikau will travel from city to city performing a soulful collection of Originals, Covers and timeless Waiata Maori. This epic 2 hour set is full of peaks and valleys which takes the listener on a journey through the regions of love, loss, joy, trauma, birth and death; all the places we need to walk to find the answers to this collective dilemma – ‘how do we heal’.
The first half of the show is a unique acoustic performance which creates a gentle warmth within the venue. The soft strum of a classical guitar serenades the listener, while Nikau’s sweet melody draws attention towards truthful lyrics.
The second hour of the show is an up-beat collection of Casual Healing’s original recordings featuring drums, bass, keyboard, vocal harmonys, clarinet and much more – a groovy demonstration of Nikau’s talents as a music producer and instrumentalist. With Hip-Hop, Reggae, Roots, RnB and Soul flavours, we will finish the night shaking off our blues to sweet grooves with a good ol’ fashioned Casual Healing hoe down.
