Formed five years ago, The Surge are a Whangārei based trio of experienced musicians. Drummer, John, hails from Britain and is a prog rock fan. Spider was an early convert to punk rock, and play bass for The Surge. Billy is on guitar and vocals and has an ear for a good guitar hook, whether from the early days of British glam or from modern Indi pop. All the influences combine in The Surge. Kyle Fury Band, an original five-piece band blending rock, reggae, ska and punk into a mash of energy guaranteed to get you dancing and singing along. Singer-songwriter Kyle Fury fronted one of Canada’s biggest ska bands, recorded many albums and has been featured on many international compilations. He’s now based in Whangārei.
