Introducing THE BARBER SHOP LIVE SESSIONS digital album and season release event celebrating waiata Māori and grassroots artists from Te Tai Tokerau. This is a bilingual event proudly showcasing the beauty of te reo Māori and paying homage to the kaiwaiata (singers) featured in The Barber Shop Sessions video documentary series, which is scheduled for release across TAHI and RNZ social channels from 3rd November, 2023.
The Barber Shop Sessions is a launchpad for emerging talent celebrating the rich tapestry of waiata Māori from the North. After each performance, the artists will sit down with our charismatic host, Kawiti Waetford, to delve deep into the heart of the meaning behind their waiata. These engaging conversations will give you an intimate insight into the artists’ personal connections to their music and their extraordinary journeys in te ao hurihuri. This is an event for all ages, so grab your tickets before it sells out!
