Vocal Confidence Workshop
We are lucky to have the wonderful opportunity to have a vocal confidence workshop running in Whangārei on the 7th of December, 9am-12pm at ONEONESIX Theatre!
Join Toni Potter, a professional actor who has worked in the industry in NZ for nearly 25 years.
During her study she worked with renowned voice teacher Linda Cartwright and learned a number of vocal techniques that can be applied to help build confidence and vocal skill. After working professionally in the industry she has developed her process in physical and vocal confidence for any situation. Her workshop is above all about learning some simple skills in a fun way to help build your own confidence without hurting or straining the voice.
This workshop is going to be focused on:
1. Relaxation, confidence and taking care of the voice.
2. It will cover some technical aspects, giving you things to think about that will help to build their own confidence, that however they sound there is no ‘wrong’ or ‘right’.
3. Empowering you to love your own voices and finding ways to build your own vocal ‘muscles’ – using your own resonators and finding techniques that won’t hurt or stress your voices.

This workshop will at times be funny and silly and joyful – we have to get a bit loose and not be afraid to be silly in front of other people – we are going to make weird noises. Please dress in clothing suitable for movement – shoes will have to come off. Bring water and a snack. We will have a little break.
Please bring a piece of writing to use – a piece of prose, poem, speech, monologue, mihi – something that you would like to practice with. It can be two lines or a page – something you feel comfortable using.
Please do not join the workshop if you are unwell – not only because we want to avoid the covid and whooping cough specifically but you can also do damage to your voices if your voice is tired. Please come well and rested. Another workshop can always run another time
