Tāwhirimātea: The Thirteenth
A rehearsed reading of a new script by local writer Vincent Nathan.
Across time and tide, Tāwhirimātea – the atua of storms – wrestles with the pain of separation, rage, and love. Through thirteen monologues, the winds of Pūrakau echo into the present day.
A modern voice steps between the cracks of legend, speaking a human truth: a son torn apart by a father’s violence, shame, and silence.
Where Tāwhirimātea fights to hold onto his father, the other fights to survive his. In the end, both storms find calm not in vengeance, but in understanding.
Tāwhirimātea: The Thirteenth navigates the space between Pūrakau and man, where intergenerational trauma meets sacred whakapapa, where the tearing of Rangi and Papa becomes the fracture in us all.
One atua. One Man.

A thousand truths carried on the wind.
