Read Play Write
Read Play Write is a regular in-house play reading initiative that invites local creatives, emerging artists and young people to read plays together, without the pressure of performing to an audience – most reads are ‘cold’ reads, meaning that they are done with little or no preparation, straight from the page.
After readings we tend to facilitate a mini-workshop (for no longer than an hour), with the aim of either gaining a deeper understanding of the text, or developing our own voices as playwrights, storytellers and theatre makers – these can vary from discussing play themes, writing prompts, staging scenes or brainstorming how we might stage the play ourselves.
Most sessions involved shared kai where possible.
