Leao

Formed from a Pacific heart, Leao is a Samoan musical project formed up of guitarist/vocalist David Feauai-Afaese, bassist Navakatoa Tekela-Pule, steel guitarist Levi Gemmell and drummer Rāhana Tito-Taylor. With a deep adoration for the Pacific musical reference and a desire to contribute contemporary musical ideas, LEAO synthesises non-traditional tonalities with a fa’asamoa spirit, creating what some have called ‘niu wave’ and ‘Pacific neo psychedelia” music.

Leao has performed with musical icons from Aotearoa and beyond, including Neil Finn and Tinariwen, has received multiple NZ radio awards and performed a live-to-air with NTS, and has had music appear in film on Taika Waititi’s ‘Next Goal Wins’ and Miki Magasiva’s ‘Tinā’. More immediately, LEAO is due to perform with A24 artist Mark Williams Lewis on April 6th, and are set to embark on a trip to the UK in May to perform at The Great Escape festival in Brighton.

Hun Lynch

Hun Lynch (Pakeha, Fiji, Samoa) is a multidisciplinary artist whose work spans music, theatre, film, and writing. Hun’s sound is expansive and personal, with tracks that fluctuate between moments of spiritual grandeur and existential fragility.

She has performed around Aotearoa, opening for Serebii and WOMB at sold-out venues as well as playing Roundhead’s Infinity Sessions supporting LEAO and Neil Finn. Her music has aired on NTS and 95bFM and featured across theatre, dance, and screen. Her live performance attempts to touch the void of an untouchable feeling, often meditating on the ephemeral muddiness of connecting to wairua in the wake of religion.
