Merlia – Magic Woman

Known for her immersive and richly textured sound, Merlia celebrates the release of her second single, ‘Magic Woman’. Her debut single, ‘Sicily’, was released in March this year; an intimate song carried by trance-like melodies and ocean-washed production. Magic Woman is a counterpoint; with an upbeat gypsy jazz influence and catchy lyrics, you cannot help but dance along. Performing live alongside some of Whangārei’s finest musicians, Austyn Mills, Scott Wynne and Matthew Shepherd, Merlia’s performance will have you feeling like you are falling into a deep cut dream.

Hailing from the Far North of Aotearoa, where her musical journey began around the campfire and at the marae in Hokianga. Immersed in the sounds of ngāhere and ocean, Leah has emerged as a folk singer and songwriter, collecting songs that resonate deeply with themes of environmental care, social justice and storytelling.
