Held Together (2026 cohort)

Held Together is a curated collection of scenes drawn from published plays, each selected for and staged by emerging performing arts leaders as a platform to learn the fundamentals of working with text, shaping performance, and collaborating with a performance team. Following on from the success of this programme in 2025, this vibrant showcase is the culmination of creative exploration by over 20 rangatahi taking part in NYT’s 2026 Emerging Directors Programme, delivered in partnership with ONEONESIX.

Guided by experienced industry mentors, these bold young artists are experimenting with storytelling, blocking, pacing, character development, and creative leadership. What emerges is a compelling mosaic of human connection, disruption, and discovery. As much a process as a performance, this event invites you into the room with the next generation of theatre-makers as they test ideas, take risks, and develop their voices. Held Together is not just a show, it’s a snapshot of growth, courage, and collective creativity in motion.
