Are you 16–24 and dreaming of a future in the arts or creating your own performance pieces?

ONEONESIX invites you to a unique programme for young leaders and emerging artists in our community, interested in developing their performing arts making & leadership skills and connecting with industry professionals and other young people. You’ll be exposed to a wide range of techniques streaming from different disciplines and practitioners and explore how to unlock and generate content in different ways.

This week-long programme will be the first in a year-long engagement of workshops, mentorship, performance opportunities and industry connections to support a group of emerging rangatahi to find their voice through the medium of performing arts. We encourage those who are wanting to go on to formal training in performing arts to apply.

What to Expect:

  • Hands-On Creation: Learn the techniques to craft original performance pieces, facilitated by practicing artists, Gaby Thomas (Atamira Dance Company) and Lutz Hamm (Company of Giants).
  • Skill Development: Each day will focus on a new discipline or process to grow your artistic toolkit as well as core skills in movement, contemporary dance, vocal work, writing and script making.
  • Dates: January 20–24, 2025 at ONEONESIX, Whangārei.

This talanoa is for those ready to take their first steps in creating performance that resonates and inspires. Whether you’re writing songs, choreographing movement, or directing stories, this workshop is your chance to connect, collaborate, and create with purpose.
